Heya people.
Hsieh Hui requested for some ghost stories, and I promised to share some, so here I am now :)
Firstly, let me introduce you people to Port Arthur, site of the hauntings.
Port Arthur is a small town and former convict settlement on the Tasman Peninsula in Tasmania, Australia. In 1996 it was the scene of the worst mass murder event in Australian history. It was a maximum security prison.
Along the church at Port Arthur is the former parsonage. Ever since the death of the Reverend George Eastman in the mid-19th century, strange lights, screams, the smell of putrefying flesh and other weird manisfestations have been reported here. Eastman was an obese man. After he died in an upstairs bedroom at the parsonage, his coffin, which could not be manoeuvred down the narrow stairs was lowered by a rope from the window. But the rope broke under the strain. The coffin went crashing down and tumbled the reverend gentleman's body unceromoniously into the gutter.
For many years following this mishap there were reports of seeing the spreadeagled corpse of the Reverend George Eastman lying there. Here are some encounters of people:
Witnesses have claimed to see lights shining from unoccupied upstairs rooms. Reverend Rowland Hayward and his wife, who moved into the parsonage after Reverend George Eastman died, testified to the fact that they had seen a brilliant white light shining from under the door of a room adjoining their drawing-room, but upon the door being flung open the room was discovered to be in darkness.
A few years later, a woman visior staying with the Haywards at the parsonage bcame terrified of strange knocking sounds. After she shied her shoes at what she thought were rats, the sounds intensified, seeming to come from all around the room. Screaming hysterically, she fled upstairs to her hosts. Mr Haywood peered over the banisters with a candle, saw nothing, so retired to his room. But no sooner had he shut the door than there was a sharp rap on it. He immediately threw the door open, only to find the hall in utter darkness and no one there.
A maid in the house had a similar disturbing experience.
